The networking of the Tyrolean compulsory schools started in 1999, first with the Tyrolean technical vocational schools, then with the secondary schools and finally with the elementary schools. Middle and high schools already had Internet connections at that time, but were also transferred to the newer and therefore more modern TSN in 2001. As in the Tyrolean community network, the focus has shifted from line connections and basic services to integrative applications, both for the pedagogical area and for administration.
Together in the Tyrolean school network
Headmasters bear extensive responsibility in many respects. The TSN mitigates at least some of them: All services are commissioned by the state of Tyrol and are free of charge for the school. The development takes place together with proven education experts. The data is stored in the country's two redundant data centers. Operation is carried out by the state-owned IT service provider DVT-Daten-Verfertigung-Tirol GmbH. DVT is certified according to ISO 27,000, the internationally recognized standard for IT security.
Teachers and class teachers accompany our children on their way to the future. The idea of the TSN is to provide support with well-prepared and easy-to-use IT applications. This leaves more time for the students and the lessons. All TSN services are pure web applications and can therefore be used regardless of location. So also from home, e.g. for the preparation of the next day.
IT administrators are responsible for the entire, diverse IT in the school. The TSN services help with central data storage, far-reaching automation and integrative interfaces to third-party systems. All components are constantly being further developed and kept up to date with the latest technology. And if the hat is on fire, experienced and competent TSN partners are available to provide assistance.
With the TSN, students enter an open, modern, but also secure digital world: All TSN services are one hundred percent free of advertising. There are no paid options, neither obvious nor hidden. Private data stays private. The data protection officers set up in accordance with the provisions of the GDPR monitor compliance with data protection. Single sign-on, i.e. a single user/password combination for all TSN services, helps to keep track of access data. All TSN services are pure web applications and can be used without local installations and without local restrictions.
